#20 had the kind of season people envisioned him having some day when he was a top end #1 pick to the Cardinals. This talented runner from Virgina posted 15 touchdowns and over 1,500 total yards in the Jets offense last year. To me it came as no surprise that the pro bowl runner wanted a new contract this off-season. To be honest 2008 was Thomas's career year and he is not getting any younger. Also losing Brett Favre hurts Jones's chances of a double digit touchdowns again in 09. Especially with Shonn Greene being drafted by the team, they now have another good sized back that can plunge in the touchdowns.
Thomas Jones Fantasy Football Value in 2009
Look to temper your thoughts about drafting Jones based on his numbers from a year ago. While he still has a great offensive line and defense, he will now have a rookie quarterback. Plus rookie Shonn Greene to help steal more carrie's and touchdowns away from him. I see Thomas still posting a 1,00 campaign in 2009 with probably 6 touchdowns. If you get him as a middle round runner, lets say your #3 back/ flex play. You will have gotten him at a reasonable price for what he will give you. But if you go out and draft him in the 2nd round he may disappoint you this season.
