Rivers takes next step to star dome in 2008
Philip took the next step to becoming a fantasy star in 2008. With 4,000 yards passing and 34 touchdowns, he clearly picked up the slack left by LT and the defense. With Vincent Jackson coming into his own this now gives Rivers two solid receivers and a top tight end. However, with LT healthy again and Shawn Marriman back, the Chargers are better suited for a run first approach. If this holds true then Rivers is primed for a back slide season in 2009.
Philip Rivers Fantasy Football Value in 2009
Rivers has proven just too much from last year's numbers to be ranked any lower than 6th quarterback overall. Especially with his core of receivers back in San Diego there is even more reason to believe he will give you a solid season this year. Look for Rivers as a solid 5th round pick in this year's draft. If he does, in fact, repeat his number from a year ago he will move into the top three rounds next year.
Fantasy Assets:
- Very solid supporting cast
- Good Arm
- Touchdown Maker
- Plays in Good weather
Fantasy Liability's:
- In a Run first offense
- If they have a better defense he won't need to throw as much
