Turner and Falcons Breakout in 2008
After living under LT's shadow in San Diego Turner finally got his chance to shine in 2008 with the Atlanta Falcons. I thought going into that season Turner would be a guy that would have 1 big game against a bad team then fallow that up with 2 or 3 quiet games (like Cory Dillin used to do with the Bengals). It's not that I didn't think Mike didn't have good skills, I just thought he was on a bad team that was rebuilding.
Runners on such teams lack consistency most of the time. However, man oh man was I wrong. There are a lot of fantasy football sites out there that will say runner DeAngelo Williams was the MVP of fantasy last year. While no one can deny Williams was the best down the stretch, I would still clearly give fantasy's MVP to Turner. DeAngelo hardly did much in the first half of the year while Turner was a stud all season long (and the Falcons won all year as well).

With 1699 yards rushing and beefy 17 touchdowns Mike put fear into his opponent's hearts as he barreled over, around and through defenders (and other fantasy teams). Quarterback Matt Ryan's progression into his second year can only help Turner see fewer 8 man fronts. Not to also add the addition of no doubt Hall of Fame Tight End Tony Gonzalez. If you're sitting with the second pick in your draft and Turner is still there I wouldn't pass on him for a minute. I will say just like All Day, Turners only down side is his reception totals. However, this Earl Campbell play alike his a true beast in every sense of the word.
Fantasy Assets:
- Game Breaker
- 20 touches or more a game
- Touchdown Maker
- Great supporting cast around him
Fantasy Liability's:
- Needs to catch the ball more ( only 6 receptions last year)
