Matt Cassel Gets Traded to the Chiefs
In a funny twist of fate Cassel was traded to the Chiefs this off-season. I say funny because Cassel finally got his opportunity to play since high school in a week 1 game against the Chiefs. This happened of course when Tom Brady went down with a season ending knee injury in that game. With the Chiefs Matt Cassel's value took a hit when Tony Gonzalez left the team for the Atlanta Falcons. How ever he does still have third year receiver Dawyne Bowe as a number one.
Matt Cassel's Fantasy Football Value in 2009
While Matt did end up with a fine first year as a starter in New England with almost 3,700 passing yards and 21 touchdowns, he was also in a first rate offense. The same can't be said about the Chiefs offense. I see Cassel's numbers back sliding to around 3,400 yards and maybe 17 touchdowns. If they go out next year and proved him with more targets I think he can build on those numbers yet again. As far as this years fantasy football draft look for Cassel as a back up in deep leagues.
Fantasy Assets:
- Good #1 Receiver
- Head Coach was offensive coordinator with the Cardinals
Fantasy Liability's:
- Not much to throw to after Bowe
- Doesn't have a Strong Arm
