Is the Future Now in Tampa Bay?
In the 2009 off-season the Buccaneers said good bye to Head coach John Gruden. The Buccaneers then said good bye to veterans Derrick Brooks, Joey Galloway and Jeff Garcia. Tampa Bay then went out in free agency and signed Steeler's quarterback Byron Leftwich and traded for tight end Kellen Winslow. These two veterans were good building blocks for a team clearly starting over in a rebuilding mode.
At the 2009 draft and the Buccaneers surprisingly in my mind drafted a rookie quarterback in Josh Freeman. Josh is a very talented athlete and may be a good pick, but I'm not sure this is what Tampa Bay needed. With the loss of Derrick Brooks, it would have been nice to see them select a defensive talent to help keep the defense strong. Especially when they had already signed Leftwich to be the starter.

Look for Josh to be on the bench most of this season as the Bucs try and compete in the NFC South. However, if how ever the Buccaneers should find themselves out of the race come late November, Freeman may get a chance to show his ability's on the field. With talents like Antonio Bryant and Kellen Winslow on the team Freeman could make a nice late season addition. Especially since the Bucs play in good weather in December down in Florida. Other than that Josh isn't drafting worthy right now.
