Garcia to Push Russell for Playing Time
Jeff signed on with the Raiders this off-season after leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While Garcia will be the backup in Oakland to start the season he may get an opportunity to play if JaMarcus Russell should falter in the starting role. I believe in the short term if Jeff plays he will make everyone around him more valuable fantasy wise. While JaMarcus is talented he still has much to learn about the nuances of the game.

If you selected Russell in your draft consider stashing Garcia away on your team if you have the room. Garcia doesn't have the strong arm that Russell has but his has the makeup of a winner. Jeff also has the edge as he is always underestimated by people on a regular bases. In the end Jeff Garcia is a competitor and wants the starting role bad. If he gets a chance I don't believe JaMarcus will see the field again in 2009.
