Jamal Lewis Fantasy Football Ranking

Lewis is still the Man In Cleveland
While the Browns offense did crash and burn in 2008, Jamal still had a 1,000 yard rushing season. Now it is true when people say, "1,000 yards is not what it used to be" mainly because football plays a 16 game season. But for Lewis to gain that many yards in a bad year, one has to think if the passing game plays respectable then can get 1,200 and 8 touchdowns. His odds of making a run at such numbers was helped when head coach Eric Mangini came over from the Jets this off-season.
Eric is a coach that believes in a strong offensive line. He proved this by having the best line in football a year ago with the Jets. In the first round in the NFL draft this year Mangini selected stud Center Alex Mack from the California Golden Bears. This selection gives the Browns a strong line again with left guard Eric Steinbach, and two time Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas. This line will no doubt give the Browns offense many opportunity's to shine in 2009.

Because Lewis is getting older and he's on the unpopular Browns offense (much like in 2007) Jamal will be one of the last starting runners in the NFL selected in fantasy drafts. But hey like it or not the man still has talent and does have a very solid offensive line. With a capable passing game as well look for Lewis as a 8th round runner for your team this year. People will laugh when you take him but that is a compliment as players that get laughed on drafted tend to work out.
Fantasy Assets:
- Strong Offensive Line
- Head Coach has Commitment to the Run
- Is a Capable Touchdown Maker
- Carry the ball 20 times or more a game
Fantasy Liability's:
- Passing game needs to come back
- Defense is bad
- For now he is on a losing team
