Jake Melts Down on his Birthday in the Playoffs
What a birthday to for one to have. Your in the playoffs at home with the second best record in the NFC. Then you go out on the field and throw 5 interceptions and get embarrassed on national TV. This was all to real for Jake Delhomme last season in January. His playoff game had many wondering if this was it for the long time veteran quarterback in Carolina. How ever the Panthers signed no one significant in the off-season, nor did they draft any high quarterback. This may have been the best move for the Panthers to not have to endure media "controversy" about whom should be the leader for the team in blue.
One should keep in mind that Jake was coming off of season ending Tommy John surgery from the year before. This injury takes two years to comeback from. Now that Delhomme is two years removed he stands a better chance to succeed in 2009.

Lets face it Jake has never really been a fantasy football juggernaut, but he has helped many fantasy teams with respectable play at times. The man still has Steve Smith and that is a good thing for his value. In fact Smith is probably the only reason Jake might be worth a back up quarterback pick in deep leagues. Don't stretch for Jake in your draft by any means, he is nothing more than a fill-in role player for fantasy at this point in his career.
Fantasy Assets:
- Great #1 Receiver
- Great Offensive Line
Fantasy Liability's:
- On a run first offense
- Not the quarterback he used to be
