Who will Start for the Buccaneers?
This off-season the Bucs signed Ward away from the New York Giants. While Ward did have a 1,000 yards rushing in 2008 he only had 2 touchdowns. He as also not the starting tailback in New York as those duty's went to Brandon Jacobs. This season it still remains to be known who will start for the Tampa Bay. Will it be Ward or Earnest Graham?
Right now I believe you will see many times during the regular season the Bucs will line up Ward at tail back and Graham at fullback. This two back formation was successful with Warrick Dunn and Graham last year. I also see Graham maintaining his role as the man the receives the goal line touchdowns.
Darrick Ward's Fantasy Football Value in 2009
Look for Derrick to probably have the most carries on the team by years end. He will probably even end up with over 1,00 yards this year again as Tampa has a rock solid offensive line. But his value will suffer as long as Earnest Graham is healthy and playing. Graham became and leader in the Bucs club house last year for his team play and great unselfish attitude. He will be rewarded with the touchdown benefits because he does a good job down at the stripe. Look to take Ward as a nice late round fantasy pick. Then if Graham gets hurt Ward may become a fantasy stud.
Fantasy Assets:
- Good Running Skills Over All
- Great Offensive Line
- Good receivers around him
Fantasy Liability's:
- Team has had a lot of turn over in one year
- Won't receive the touchdowns in the offense
