Is Quinn Capable of Running a Pro Offense?
The Brownie's fell on very hard times in 2008. With such lofty expectations by the media and fans this major disappointment obviously did not rest well with the Dog Pound community. At the start of November Brady Quinn got his opportunity to run the offense when Romeo Crennel put Derek Anderson on the bench. Brady looked good in his debut in a loss to the Denver Broncos at home. Quinn also showed to have a more up tempo style of game management then teammate Derek Anderson had. But soon after this game Quinn had his season end with an injury, leaving some to wonder if #10 was the man of the future or not?
Brady Quinn's Fantasy Football Value for 2009
Expect a very competitive battle this off-season between Brady and Derek Anderson for who will start in Cleveland. New coach Eric Mangini I believe will not play favorites in terms of Anderson's stats in 2007 or Brady being #1 pick future. In the end I believe Quinn will come out the winner as I do see Brady as the better quarterback. But it's more than just his physical tools that the Browns need right now. They need his ability to run an up tempo offense and his ability to kick someone in the butt when they need it. Lets face it the Gym warrior can probably hold his own in a confrontation, so I don't see him backing down from letting a player know when they need to step it up (Braylon Edwards). Assuming Brady wins the starting job he will make a fine late round pick for your fantasy football team this year. I wouldn't start him right away but he should be a nice fill-in as the season move along.
Fantasy Assets:
- Solid #1 wide receiver
- Strong arm
- Very good offensive line
Fantasy Liability's:
- Needs to prove himself
- Bad weather in December
- Hurts losing Kellen Winslow (or does it?)
