Turmoil between Anquan Boldin and
the Arizona Cardinals
Before, during and after the Cardinals remarkable run much was said about Boldin's contract with Arizona. This whole discussion was spurred on when Larry Fitzgerald signed a new huge deal in last years off-season. Soon after Larry signed the deal Anquan wanted a new deal or to be traded. His agent Drew Rosenhouse is known for his players throwing tantrums to get their way. This situation was no different as before the season Anquan called coach Wisenhunt and ownership out right liars, saying that they promised him a new deal and they did not deliver.
This off-season Boldin encouraged the Cardinals to trade him again. But so far the Cardinals have turned down all deals including one from the Eagles for corner back Sheldon Brown and a third round pick. The Cards have Boldin under contract and Anquan has already come out and said he doesn't believe in holding out into the regular season, so expect him to play. With that in mind I see no reason why #81 won't find success for your fantasy football team going forward.
Anquan Bolden's Fantasy Football Value in 2009
With Kurt Warner back in Arizona again and Matt Linart behind him, Boldin is set for another solid year. This hard nose physical receiver is the heart and sole of the Cardinals offense. It's rare that you find a pass catcher playing the intimidation role for a team, but this big man is the exception. Because of this it will always hurt his health as he takes extra shots from defenders because he doesn't go down easy. Boldin is also not the fastest runner in the league, which is why he lasted in the NFL draft to the Cardinals in the second round. This information plus the fact he gets a lot of catches per game is the reason he only gets around 12 yards per catch average. Again health has been a problem for Boldin in recent years (probably why he hasn't received a new deal) as he has played only 12 games a season in 07 and 08. Look for Boldin as a top end #2 receiver for your fantasy football team in 2009.
